Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Dinner on Sunday, June 20, 2010

Centennial Anniversary Celebration!!!

In accordance with Article VIII of the Constitution, the Annual Meeting of the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on June 20 at the Clarion Hotel.  This festive banquest marks the 100th anniversary of the Historical Society.  The celebration begins with a reception at 6:15 and is followed by dinner  at 7:00 p.m.  The cost of the dinner is $50. The Rev. Canon J. Robert Wright, D. Phil., of St. Mark's Church in the Bowery Professor of Ecclesiastical History at General Theological Seminary and Historiographer of the Episcopal Church will speak on "Globalization and Catholicity: The Historiography of a Recent Tri-lateral Dialogue."

Professor Wright's talk will directly address themes of globalization, justice, ad the role of historical scholarship in moving toward greater religious understanding and collaboration.  As such they serve as a good introduction to the themes of the TriHistory Conference  which begins the next day.
