Archives Basics for Churches

An 5-part educational course, presented by Zoom in 2024, with information on archives and repositories for congregations and dioceses of the Episcopal Church. In addition to the video, an outline and slides of each session are available. You will also find links for sample files and a list of additional resources to expand and strengthen your knowledge for doing archival work.

Archives Basics for Churches is a five-part educational series designed specifically to equip congregations and dioceses within the Episcopal Church with the foundational tools needed to build, manage, and sustain a thriving historical repository. Originally presented as a live Zoom series in 2024, this course is a self-paced, fully accessible multimedia resource. Whether you are a parish historian, a church administrator, or a volunteer stepping into the archives for the very first time, this course bridges the gap between professional archival theory and the unique, practical realities of local ministry.
